Peace & Anti-bias Education
Peace Education is built around six age-appropriate strands: Knowledge of Self and Connection to Others, Joy in Diversity, Creative Conflict Resolution and Sense of Justice, Imagination and Playfulness, Care & Love of Nature, and Global Awareness. Each of these interrelated strands provides a place to help teachers develop rich and exciting curriculum. Together they comprise an integrated approach to Peace Education.

Anti-bias Education is an educational philosophy and practical approach that works to address these questions both in the lives of children and in the lives of adults. The Four Goals of Anti-bias (Identity, Diversity, Safety and Empowerment) connected with Peace Education create a strong foundation for supporting children's growing sense of self and understanding of others of others and how to work towards a more just and peaceful world.

The trainings I provide help to develop the understanding of the adults in the children's world of ways they can help to support children as they develop their social and emotional skills in this diverse world that is seeking balance.
Early Literacy
The videos below are samples of readings I did for children connected to my work in the Rosmarie Greiner/ Margo Trombetta Peace and Anti-bias Education Children's Library. Combined with the resources of this library and my understanding of children's literacy development gives me tools to help support programs to develop strong programs in support of children's preparations for reading and writing in ways that are meaningfully connected to the children and their cultures. Literacy trainings help adults in children's lives ot use skills like those shown in the videos below as they use books with children.
This reading is a wonderful opportunity to explore how to read a book with children, asking questions and pausing to share more details about the book with children as you read. These strategies help children to develop literacy skills and an appreciation of books.
This video was made during the pandemic. It has many examples of ways literacy can be brought into other areas of curriculum. Connecting children's books to other areas of a classroom curriculum can deepen children's learning in all areas of development.
Environments & CurriculuM
How we design environments and curriculum for children provokes discovery of ideas and learning. I work with teachers both in trainings that are interactive and as a coach when they are setting up their classrooms. Over the yearrs I have developed a number of resources including power points, videos, professional books and more. These resources can help teachers to discover new concepts and ideas through the provocations provided. Below is a video I created tofor a staff training to help communicate the importance of play in building foundations for later academic success.
